COBALT Signs With PROFOUND LORE; New Album To Feature Guest Vocals From SWANS Singer

March 27, 2007

Colorado blackened musical warmachine COBALT (comprised of the duo Erik Wunder and Phil McSorley) has forged a deal with Profound Lore Records to release its sophomore album, "Eater of Birds".

Taking the band's vicious and unconventional sound paradigm that was witnessed on its "Hammerfight" debut EP, then following with their debut album, "War Metal", "Eater of Birds" sees COBALT delivering what will undoubtedly become one of the most devastatingly memorable albums to be unleashed in 2007. With the 70-plus minute journey that will encompass such an album, you will bear observation to the amalgamation of the band's mesmerizing take on avant-garde brutal black metal, interspersed with ritualistic acoustic guitar interludes, and iced with epic and crushing NEUROSIS-like histrionics (ala "Enemy of the Sun"/"Through Silver in Blood") to create an unforgettable sonic monument. And to top it all off, "Eater of Birds" will feature a moving guest appearance by none other than Jarboe of the mighty SWANS on a couple of tracks.

Expect the plague to hit this July. Continue to keep an eye out for updates (MP3’s, tracklisting, artwork etc.),as more will be revealed, leading up to the release of this landmark work of extreme musical art.
